Plot summary
Dutch Dooley, a construction worker, is the boyfriend of Natalie Standish. At a party, her wealthy ex-husband Reed Standish says an unexpected business trip to London will keep him from Thanksgiving with their son Doyle. Natalie phones the boy's private school in Georgia to invite him home, but Doyle refuses and blames her for the divorce. Dutch offers to make the trip himself, hoping to get to know the boy. In Georgia he finds Doyle snobbish and selfish, much like his father. Believing his father has come for him, Doyle pelts Dutch with a book, kicks him, swings a golf club at him and fires a BB gun at his groin. Dutch promises revenge and carries him to the car for the drive to Chicago.
