Plot summary
Big Bertha, an elderly bounty hunter, raised Hitpig and trained the pig to find lost animals and return them to their owners for a fee. Pickles, an elephant, escapes the custody of a Las Vegas showman who calls himself the Leapin' Lord of the Leotard, with help from Letícia dos Anjos, who campaigns for animal rights. The showman hires Hitpig to catch the elephant before a show he plans to open within a couple of days, and offers a million dollars. Letícia has taken Pickles to London, bound for India, where Pickles hopes to find her family.

- Peter Dinklage lost the title role of the bounty-hunting pig Hitpig to Jason Sudeikis, whose casting was reported in May 2024, when GFM Animation launched international sales.
- Dany Boon, one of the cast announced in 2020, left the film when director David Feiss joined, and was recast by Charlie Adler, a veteran voice actor who also voices two other roles in the film.
- Berkeley Breathed's adaptation of his 2008 book Pete & Pickles entered development at DreamWorks Animation in 2014 and was abandoned soon afterwards; before Hitpig, he had pitched it in 2010 as a computer-animated preschool series with Technicolor.
