Plot summary
In Los Angeles, Gracie, a pampered Cocker Spaniel, shares a home with Pedro, a British Shorthair the family rescued after a shelter found him locked in a box. Pedro eats from the garbage, sleeps in Gracie's bed and sheds on her jewelry, and Gracie dislikes him for it. After a brawl breaks the family's cups, each pet is placed in its own carrier for the trip to Utah. Gracie goes back for her squeaky toy, and Pedro for his cat scratcher. Their carriers fall from the truck and the two are stranded. They agree to walk the 500 miles to Utah together.
