Plot summary
Esther Dahlset is a PhD student in Los Angeles. She and a co-worker find unusual seismic patterns and take their readings to their professor, Stuart Conrad, warning that downtown could collapse during the G-20 World Leaders Summit. Conrad has just learned that his financier was killed. The financier had defunded a shadowy Nikola Tesla research project not long before. Esther connects the tremors to rogue scientists who want Tesla's lost notebook, since they intend to weaponize his secrets and set off massive earthquakes. When Esther visits Conrad's home and office, the professor is gone, and she sets out to uncover the truth.
