Plot summary
In 2079 Washington, the former CIA operative Snow is interrogated over the killing of a fellow agent and convicted of espionage by Secret Service chief Scott Langral. He is sentenced to thirty years in MS One, a maximum security prison in orbit where inmates serve their terms in stasis. President Warnock's daughter Emilie arrives at the station to investigate claims that stasis leaves prisoners mentally unstable. A bodyguard loses a hidden pistol to the prisoner Hydell, who seizes the central control room and frees the inmates; Hydell's brother Alex leads the riot that follows. The veteran agent Harry Shaw offers Snow his freedom in exchange for bringing Emilie out of the station.
