Plot summary
In 2029, no mutant has been born for twenty-five years, and Logan, whose healing has faded, drives a limousine in El Paso. He keeps Charles Xavier, crippled by a degenerative brain disease, in an abandoned plant in Mexico with Caliban, a mutant tracker. Gabriela offers Logan money to drive a girl named Laura to Eden, a refuge near the Canadian border, and he agrees. When he returns to the motel, Gabriela is dead and Laura has hidden in the trunk of his limo. Donald Pierce, head of security for the biotechnology corporation Alkali-Transigen, is hunting the girl, and Logan, Charles and Laura go on the run.

- Jackman said Jerry Seinfeld helped convince him to quit the role, over a dinner where he asked Seinfeld why he had ended his show. Seinfeld replied: "You should never spend everything creatively because it's almost herculean to start up again. You should always have something in the tank."
