Plot summary
Ethan Walker studies tornadoes at a Texas university, where he teaches part time. A late-night call about a twister that has just touched down sends him to the lab, where his team is gathering. His wife, Addison, a television news reporter, is summoned to cover the same storm for the morning broadcast. The two have been having trouble in their marriage. Ethan reads the conditions as ripe for more tornadoes and asks Addison to get a warning on the air. The station's meteorologist treats the first twister as an isolated incident, and with Christmas at hand he refuses to alarm viewers over what he considers a hypothetical storm. Addison tries to change his mind, but he will not.
