Plot summary
Caroline Christmas-Hope has planned the holiday down to the last detail at the Yorkshire mansion she shares with her husband Peter and their children Daisy and Henry. Her sisters come for Christmas: Joanna, a fashion editor, brings her boyfriend Felix; Paulina is still writing a thesis about The Beatles; and Vicky has spent weeks couch-surfing in the United States. Their mother Elizabeth and their farmer uncle John are there as well. Vicky lets slip that she spent time in Florida with James, the father who walked out on the family on Christmas Day years earlier, and she has invited him to come. James turns up with Jackie, his American girlfriend, and Caroline's perfect Christmas comes apart.
