Plot summary
In the Midlands, Richard spends his time on 11th-century battle re-enactments and has a dead-end job. His wife Cath leaves him after he turns up late to her father's funeral in Viking costume. Richard wants her back, but Cath has begun dating Gary, the physical education teacher at their son Martin's school. Martin is bullied by other pupils, partly because of his father's hobby. Richard's best friend Julian runs a comic book store, lives with his mother and loves Vikings and Star Trek.

- Faintheart billed itself as 'the world's first user-generated movie'; Vertigo Films, Myspace and Film4 collaborated to form the Myspace Movie Mash Up competition, which offered a budget to aspiring directors, and from a shortlist selected by experts Myspace users chose Vito Rocco as the winning director.
- More than 1,400 Myspace users auditioned for character roles, with Rocco choosing 11 non-professional actors to feature in the film; some crew members were also sourced from Myspace, and users sent in jokes and chose the songs and bands to form the soundtrack.
- Rocco said the idea came from two misspent youths: screenwriter David Lemon spent his in Southend observing battle re-enactors while Rocco spent his observing am-dram actors in Norfolk, and the Viking heritage combined to make the idea.
