Plot summary
Satin Records rejected Eddie and the Cruisers' final album twenty years ago. Now the label re-releases the band's first album and launches an Eddie Lives campaign, marketing the singer's image despite believing he is dead. A mystery demo tape surfaces that a voice expert says features Eddie Wilson. In Montreal, Eddie Wilson is alive under the name Joe West, a construction worker, after he left a car crash behind. He becomes involved with a struggling bar band, challenges its talent, and accepts an invitation to play, dazzling the audience. His love of music returns as the band, Rock Solid, begins to gain attention.

Michael Paré's onstage return as Eddie Wilson was among the concert scenes shot on April 24, 1989 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada, filmed in between sets of Bon Jovi's headlining New Jersey Syndicate Tour concert, after Skid Row's opening set; more concert scenes were shot at the Forum in Los Angeles.
