Plot summary
Billy Jack goes to court over an involuntary manslaughter charge and receives a prison term. While he is away, the Freedom School on a reservation in Arizona, guided by teacher Jean Roberts, rebuilds itself in a new building. The students start a newspaper and a television station, then use both for investigative reporting that angers politicians and townspeople. Their activities also include a search and rescue team, a marching band and a belly dancing class, and they hold an arts festival and marching-band contest to raise money. Billy Jack leaves prison and seeks out his spiritual beliefs through vision quests, and he studies with the hapkido master Han. A radical group on the reservation opposes a federal effort to end recognition of the tribe and hand tribal lands to developers, and the school takes up the cause.
