Plot summary
Dick Tracy is a police detective working a string of murders in which the victims, from every level of society, are cut to pieces. The killer is known as Splitface, and there is no shortage of suspects. Tracy learns that the deaths are planned to continue until fifteen people have been killed, and he must find what the victims share before more of them die. A knife left at one of the scenes is traced to the mortician Deathridge, whose supply room would be easy to steal from. A rooftop astronomer who may have watched the attacker is arrested on suspicion, and his odd manner confounds his questioners.
