Plot summary
Lise's car bumps Antoine's bike in the street, and the two of them recognize one another from a brief affair twenty years earlier, when both were at the Sorbonne. He is now a professor of Greek; she is a police inspector and is in no hurry to say so. Their first dinner date is cut short by a phone call: a National Assembly Deputy has been found murdered. Her only lead is another Deputy, whom she must follow without letting Antoine guess what she does for a living. The investigation points toward Christine Vallier, the mistress of the murdered Deputy, a twenty-two-year-old whose mother worked the snack bar at the Assembly.
