Plot summary
Mike Gaucher works as a stuntman, and his fiancée Jane Gardner performs stunts with him. Minutes before the wedding they have planned, they are called to shoot a car stunt; the brakes fail, the car falls, and both end up in a hospital with broken legs. Fed up with her fiancé, Jane leaves him. After his recovery Mike finds no work, so he pretends to be intellectually disabled and invents a family to collect state benefits. Santos, a stuntman friend, asks him to cover at a job dressing as a gorilla to advertise pasta in a supermarket.

- Jean-Paul Belmondo performed most of his own stunts in the film, which caused him multiple injuries: a dislocated ankle after the Sacré-Cœur steps scene, a dislocation and a penetrating wound after tumbling down stairs, and a chewed-up ear from a fight with a tiger.
- Insurance companies refused to insure the film's aerial stunts, so they had to be filmed last; everything went without incident, and Belmondo fulfilled his childhood dream of standing on the wing of a flying airplane, a Fieseler Fi 156.
