Plot summary
Stanislas Borowitz, a divisional commissioner from the IGPN, is known for his expeditious methods against corrupt officers. Sent to Nice to take on the local Mafia and to look into the death of a commissioner in a prostitute's house, he passes himself off as Antonio Cerruti, the woman's long-lost brother, and works to set the town's two crime bosses, Théodore Musard and Achille Volfoni, against each other. The police force is tied to the mob, and the inspectors Rey and Massard, who answer to Volfoni, want him out of the way. His methods might embarrass the police: he drives a race car into a criminal's house. He also draws close to Edmonde.
