Plot summary
Apocalypta commands an army of the undead she has trained, called the Copperheads, in a world where the zombie apocalypse has pushed people back to the ways of the Old West. She sends Johnny Vermillion and Stamper ahead with the horde toward Harper's Junction, where some residents flee or hide and others fight. Daisy Jane saves Billy from a Copperhead, and the pair capture Johnny and bring him to Desert Springs. Mayor Shelby and Sheriff Cooper question him, and when he mocks them Shelby orders Cooper to hang him at sunrise. Cooper then gathers a group to hunt Apocalypta and the Copperheads; he recruits Whiskey Joe at a saloon, and Joe brings in the Vaquero and a ninja named Komodo.
