Plot summary
Kendra Shaw joins the crew of the Battlestar Pegasus shortly before the Cylons attack the colonies. When Admiral Helena Cain gives the order for a blind jump, the ship escapes destruction at Scorpion Fleet Shipyards. Cain rallies the crew to war for revenge. In flashbacks to the last day of the first Cylon War, a young Helena Cain abandons her sister during the Cylon invasion of Tauron, while Viper pilot William Adama discovers a Cylon laboratory. Cain teaches Shaw to become a razor, referring to her pocket knife. After Lee Adama takes command of Pegasus, he promotes Shaw to major and makes her his executive officer, hoping to restore trust in a troubled crew.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Battlestar Galactica: Razor (2007)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Battlestar Galactica: Razor was conceived and partially financed by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, which wanted a stand-alone product on DVD only days after its Sci Fi broadcast and required 10 to 15 minutes of scenes that would not be in the broadcast version.
- Ronald D. Moore declined the home video division's offer to include violence or sex that would not meet Sci Fi's broadcast standards, and even cut a torture scene that was in the script during principal photography.
- Ronald D. Moore and his editors heavily re-ordered and re-edited the rough cut so the narrative was more linear, a change that disappointed screenwriter Michael Taylor.
- The Centurions of the first Cylon War were computer-generated rather than actors in suits, although they kept the design of the original series' Cylons and the actor who voiced them in the original series returned.
