Plot summary
In 1979, Jimmy Bones is a numbers runner and protector in his neighborhood until the corrupt cop Lupovich and the drug pusher Eddie Mack have him killed. Twenty-two years on, the block has turned rundown and drugs have moved in. Patrick and his brother Bill, with Tia, their step-sister, and their friend Maurice, buy Bones' brownstone to open a nightclub. Tia finds a black dog that carries Jimmy's spirit. Patrick meets Pearl, who still lives nearby, and her daughter Cynthia. In the basement the five find Jimmy's remains. Jeremiah, the father of Patrick and Bill, learns of the club and orders them out of the building.
