Plot summary
In 2010, a Marine team in Iraq descends into a cave and finds a Latin inscription carved on the back wall. Three years later in the Bronx, Sergeant Ralph Sarchie and his partner Butler answer a domestic call that ends with the arrest of former Marine Jimmy Tratner. At the Bronx Zoo, a woman throws her toddler toward the lion enclosure and is found scraping at the ground, reciting lyrics by The Doors. A Jesuit priest, Mendoza, tells Sarchie she is possessed, and explains a difference between evil that people do and evil that comes from demons. At a house where every bulb burns out and candles will not stay lit, Sarchie and Butler search the reeking basement, and Sarchie's radio fills with static.
