Plot summary
Charlie, an ex-teacher, is fired from his call center job on his first day. In his small Oregon town, a killer known as the Oregon undertaker has been attacking young women. Charlie is unable to provide for his wife Penelope and their daughter Emily. His colleague Gus proposes a blackmail scheme: Reverend Smalls has appeared in a database of visitors to illegal porn sites, and Gus has evidence of it. They will demand money in exchange for silence. Josie McBroom, a former teenage pageant queen and Gus's ex, overhears the two planning and insists on a share. Charlie, usually cautious, agrees, hoping the payout will turn his family's fortunes around.
