Stephen Furst
Biography
Stephen Furst was an American actor, director and producer who gained attention as Kent Dorfman, nicknamed Flounder, in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). A Norfolk, Virginia, native, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University and worked as a pizza delivery driver before Matty Simmons spotted his head shot and cast him in that comedy. He reprised Flounder in the short-lived sitcom Delta House, then became a regular as Dr. Elliot Axelrod on St. Elsewhere from 1983 to 1988 and as Vir Cotto on Babylon 5 from 1994 to 1998. His film work included Midnight Madness (1980), Silent Rage (1982), Up the Creek (1984), The Unseen (1980) and The Dream Team (1989). He voiced Booster in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins (2000) and Dash in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000). He later directed low-budget films such as Path of Destruction (2005) and Basilisk: The Serpent King (2006), and produced My Sister's Keeper.

Big break
While hunting for acting work in the mid-1970s, Furst delivered pizzas and tucked his head shot into the boxes. Matty Simmons spotted his photo, and Furst landed the part of Kent "Flounder" Dorfman in National Lampoon's Animal House.
A role that slipped away
In the unaired pilot of the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh, Furst played Walter Nichols, but Jonathan Goldstein took over the role before the show debuted because Furst could not appear in later episodes.

Furst's directing work started with three Babylon 5 episodes, two during the fourth season and one during the fifth. He also directed many independent and low-budget films.
