Plot summary
In 2055, Time Safari sells time travel hunts to wealthy clients. The clients shoot dinosaurs that would otherwise die of natural causes. The company keeps clients from stepping off the designated path. Travis Ryer leads the expeditions. Sonia Rand developed the time machine software TAMI. She received no credit for her work. Rand criticizes the hunts. She warns that a client could alter the past.

- Director Peter Hyams said the special effects were completed "in a mom-and-pop fashion" using teams in Germany, Hong Kong and India, with post-production stretching over two years and consuming three years of his own work.
- After financier Franchise Pictures went bankrupt during post-production, the backers who remained gave the filmmakers only $30 million to finish the film, well short of the $80 million originally budgeted.
- Hyams' son John later said it was one of the hardest experiences of his father's career, shooting all of it against green screen while trusting a whole technology that ultimately the production was not going to be able to afford.
