Plot summary

Ramblin' Jack Elliott's daughter aims her camera at her own father, the cowboy troubadour. She gathers memories from her mother, from relatives, friends and musicians who know him, and sets archival footage beside new interviews and performances. Jack was born in Brooklyn in 1932. In the early 1950s he played for tips on the streets of the South and West, spent a year with Woody Guthrie, and then played guitar in Europe for six years. He came back to Greenwich Village in the early 1960s and became a mentor to Bob Dylan, and he has stayed on the road since, playing one date after another and telling stories between songs.
