Biography

Robert Plant is an English singer and songwriter who was the lead singer and lyricist of Led Zeppelin. After Jimmy Page and manager Peter Grant invited him to join the Yardbirds in 1968, the renamed group achieved international success from the late 1960s until its 1980 breakup. Plant's vocals and lyrics were central to albums including Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. He began a solo career, and his first two solo records, The Principle of Moments (1983) and Pictures at Eleven (1982), both reached the US top ten. In 1984 he scored a top-ten single with the Honeydrippers' Sea of Love. In the 1990s he worked with Page again as Page and Plant, earning a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1998, and later recorded Raising Sand with Alison Krauss, which won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2009. He appeared in the documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin (2025).
