Plot summary
Kilnockie is a small football club in a Scottish fishing town, and Gordon McCloud is its manager. The club belongs to Peter Cameron, an American businessman who has lost patience with it and wants it relocated to Dublin, and his condition is that Kilnockie win the Scottish Cup. Signed to strengthen the team is Jackie McQuillan, an aging striker from Arsenal, a legendary former Celtic player who is nearing retirement and known for being troublesome. McQuillan is married to McCloud's daughter Kate, and McCloud blames him for the breakdown of his relationship with her. A cup run would take Kilnockie to a Scottish Cup final for the first time.
