Plot summary
The men of a remote Mennonite colony have drugged the women and girls with a tranquilizer intended for livestock and raped them. The attackers are arrested and held in a nearby city, and most of the colony's men go there to handle bail, leaving the women on their own for two days. A vote on the three choices ends in a tie, so eleven women gather in a hayloft to settle the question. August, the colony's schoolteacher, writes down what they say, since the women were never taught to read or write. Salome wants to stay and fight. Mariche holds that forgiveness is the only way. Ona, pregnant from a rape, proposes staying and making new rules that would give the women equality.

- Women Talking adapts Miriam Toews's 2018 novel, which was itself inspired by the gas-facilitated rapes of women at the Manitoba Colony, a remote and isolated Mennonite community in Bolivia.
- The film won Best Adapted Screenplay at the Critics' Choice Awards, the Writers Guild of America Awards and the Academy Awards; its Best Picture Oscar nomination was Orion Pictures' first since The Silence of the Lambs.
