Plot summary
Beth has just been released after ten years in prison for manslaughter, and she is working with her public defender to win back her son, who was placed with her sister in a custody arrangement made while Beth was incarcerated. Jess is a young attorney on the public defense team, and she takes on Beth's cause whether Beth likes it or not. The two of them form an unlikely alliance.
