Plot summary
In 1941, American Captain Martin Stone commands a platoon of American and Finnish soldiers sent to take a bunker held by the Germans. They misjudge the strength of the garrison and are driven back into the forest. A lone figure comes toward them, and they shoot; the body belongs to a man from their own unit who fell in the earlier fight, and he rises again. More figures rush at them from the trees. Stone, Captain Niemi, Lieutenant Laakso and the cameraman's son take cover in a trench, where they find Kolya, a Russian soldier on his own who seems to understand what the dead are. He leads them toward a house where they can shelter.
