SPOILER
The closing credits note that in 2010 five U.S. Army soldiers were charged over the murder of civilians; Specialist Adam Winfield, depicted as Briggman, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to three years, and he testified against Staff Sergeant Gibbs, called Deeks in the film, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.- The Kill Team is a fictionalized adaptation of the Maywand District murders, which Krauss had already explored in a 2013 documentary of the same name.
