Plot summary
James Randi learned every trick Harry Houdini performed and improved on some of them. As an escape artist he dangled by his ankles above Niagara Falls while freeing himself from a straitjacket. Age and the danger of the work led him to retire, and he took up a career challenging pseudoscientific and paranormal claims. He built deceptions of his own, including fictional characters, fake psychics and a sham guru named Carlos who appeared on Australian television, and he advised the staff of a talk show on handling the props used in an appearance by the self-proclaimed psychic Uri Geller. At 81, after 25 years with the artist Jose Alvarez, Randi came out publicly.
