Plot summary
AdirondACTS is a theater camp in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, run by its co-founder and director Joan Rubinsky. A strobe light at a camper's show leaves her in a coma. Her son Troy, a professional business influencer, inherits the camp, where his instincts clash with those of the theater kids. The longtime staff members Amos Klobuchar and Rebecca-Diane, best friends and former campers, announce the summer's productions, among them Joan, Still, a new musical about Joan that they have not written yet. Troy tries to ease the camp's money problems, even renting out his cabin to a guest named Tim. At auditions, Caroline Krauss of Barnswell Capital, which operates the neighboring Camp Lakeside, offers to buy the property and tells Troy the camp is facing foreclosure.

- Ben Platt said the film's budget allowed for only a few real Broadway songs, so the filmmakers wrote snippets of "musical theater songs that don't exist" for the scene in which the campers audition.
