Plot summary
Wilhelm Grimm collects stories wherever he finds them. He and his brother Jacob support themselves with books they write to order: Jacob's grammars, and a family history for a local Duke. Wilhelm would rather print the fairy tales he hears from the people around them, and he pays storytellers with the household's money. Stossel, the bookseller and their friend, teases Jacob over his dull subjects and tells both brothers to write about girls. When Greta Heinrich comes into the shop and shows an interest in Jacob, Wilhelm contrives to leave the two alone. The Duke then finds a relative left out of his history and sends the brothers away to correct it. Three of the tales are also acted out.
