Plot summary
Sian Anderson writes mystery novels and lives in Los Angeles. She has taken a house in Monemvasia, the walled town on a Greek island, for three weeks of quiet work on a new book, and has left her boyfriend John behind. Elias Appleby, the elderly landlord, meets her and leads her through underground passageways to the house he has rented to her. Before leaving, he warns her that a heavy wind comes in off the sea at night and that she should stay indoors while it blows. Once he is gone, she meets Phil, an American handyman who lives on the property.
