Plot summary
Jimmy Tong drives a taxi fast enough to earn a reputation, and it brings him a job as personal chauffeur to Clark Devlin, a friendly millionaire who offers advice and asks only that Jimmy keep away from his tuxedo. Jimmy does not know that Devlin works undercover for a government agency, the CSA. When a car bomb sends Devlin into a coma, Jimmy is left holding the agent's case notes and a watch that controls the tuxedo, a suit that lends whoever wears it speed, martial arts and acrobatics. A terrorist corporation run by Dietrich Banning plans to poison American reservoirs with genetically modified water striders that carry a dehydrating bacteria. Paired with Delilah Blaine, a scientist new to fieldwork who thinks she is working with Devlin, Jimmy takes the agent's place.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Tuxedo (2002)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Jennifer Love Hewitt broke a finger on the very first day of stunt work, after being accidentally struck by one of the stunt performers during filming.
- Jackie Chan found American film sets far more restrictive about safety than he was used to; he wanted to redo one of his jumps but was not allowed, complaining that the American approach to stunts "drives me crazy".
- The film's score was scrapped partway through and reworked: composer Christophe Beck wrote an initial score, then John Debney was brought in to rescore the film using Beck's themes, and cues from both composers ended up in the finished version.
