Plot summary
In Venice, Athos, Porthos and Aramis steal airship schematics drawn by Leonardo da Vinci, and Milady de Winter carries them to the Duke of Buckingham, after which Cardinal Richelieu disbands the company and leaves the three men on the streets of Paris. A year on, D'Artagnan sets out from his village in Gascony, aiming to follow his father into the musketeers. On the road he challenges Captain Rochefort and is shot for it. In Paris he insults Athos, Porthos and Aramis on separate occasions, and each accepts a duel. When Richelieu's guards come to arrest them for dueling, the four fight side by side, and King Louis XIII rewards them. The cardinal then has Milady plant forged love letters among the queen's belongings and carry her diamond necklace to London.
