Plot summary
Zack Conroy and Celeste Mercier skate together, and at a competition in Tokyo they finish behind Jason Bright and Cindy Halyard. Celeste falls in practice and fractures her ankle, which keeps her off the ice, and she tells Zack to find a temporary partner so he can compete at nationals and reach the world championship in Paris. Coach Bryan Hemmings searches for a replacement and finds none. After a clash with an amateur hockey team that shares their training ice, Zack settles on the team's only female player, Alejandra Delgado, who waits tables at her family's taco restaurant. Hemmings finds her unacceptable and drops him as a student, and Jackie Dorsey takes charge of the pair.
