Plot summary
Deputy district attorney Dave Douglas prosecutes Justin Forrester, a social studies teacher and activist, for firebombing the pharmaceutical company Grant and Strictland. Forrester denies the charge and says the company experiments on animals illegally. The case has distanced Dave from his seventeen-year-old daughter Carly, one of Forrester's pupils. Carly brings home a bearded collie she calls Shaggy, and the dog bites Dave's hand. A tossed stick or a cat to chase now turns Dave into a sheepdog, and sleep returns him to human form. His family, unaware, house him as the dog they think is Shaggy.
