Plot summary
Leo has dementia. On this day he stays in bed while the phone rings and the doorbell buzzes until his daughter Molly comes in and asks why he is not answering. His caretaker, Xenia, vacuums while he mutters to himself, and he struggles to prepare for his medical appointments. He and Molly take a taxi into the city, where he does not follow the dentist's instructions. In his mind, another life runs in Mexico, where his wife Dolores drives off in their truck; he chases her, they argue over which road to take, and she leaves him on a desert road. In another life, he passes time at a seaside tavern belonging to his friend Mikael and talks with Anni, a German tourist, about his unfinished novel.
