The One and Only Ivan (2020) on Netflix

Plot summary

The Big Top Mall and Video Arcade houses a circus in a Central Florida shopping center, where Mack runs the show and Ivan, a western lowland gorilla, has been its main attraction for two decades. Around him live the other performers: Stella, an elephant; Snickers, a poodle; Henrietta, a chicken who plays baseball; Murphy, a rabbit with a toy fire truck; Frankie, a sea lion; and Thelma, a macaw. A stray dog wanders into Ivan's enclosure and stays as his companion. George, who cares for the animals, often brings his daughter Julia, who gives Ivan her old crayons, works out what his drawings mean and gives the dog the name Bob. As the mall loses customers, Mack buys Ruby, a baby elephant, from a circus that has gone bankrupt, and she becomes the headline act.
