Plot summary
Bob Taylor, an inspector with the Australian Federal Narcotics Bureau, tackles a Chinese courier named Win Chan during an undercover operation at Ayers Rock. Chan speaks no English and refuses to answer questions, so the Royal Hong Kong Police Force sends Inspector Fang Sing Leng, one of its Special Branch officers, to Sydney to help with the extradition. Before leaving, Fang meets the journalist Caroline Thorne, who lands at his training school in a hang glider, and they agree to see each other again in Sydney. There he works with Taylor and Sergeant Morrie Grosse, questions Chan, and traces the courier's employer to Jack Wilton, a businessman whose import and export trade and martial arts school serve as a front.
