George Lazenby was cast as James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) despite having no film acting experience. He took over the role from Sean Connery, the original Bond actor.
A role that slipped away
Lazenby was offered the chance to play Bond again in The Man with the Golden Gun, but his agent Ronan O'Rahilly convinced him the character would be archaic in the liberated 1970s, so he left the role.
A role that slipped away
For Never Say Never Again, Lazenby was considered to play James Bond again, but the role went to Sean Connery instead.
