Plot summary
J.D. Dawes drives a truck for a living out of California. When he comes home he learns that Sergeant Strode, a policeman in the town of Texas City, beat an old friend of his so badly that the man is paralyzed. J.D. also hears that Strode and Deputy Boles make a habit of trapping truck drivers for Judge Joshua Trimmings, who set the town up as a place where his family and his friends could commit crimes. Billy, J.D.'s younger brother, has just started driving a truck, and J.D. warns him to keep away from Texas City.
