Roger Ward
Biography
Roger Ward is an Australian actor and scriptwriter who started out in stage and radio work as a young man and became known for tough guy roles, often doing his own stunts. Born in Adelaide in 1937, he traveled to Tahiti in his late teens to begin writing the novel that eventually became the film The Set (1970). He was a script editor on Homicide and turned his own novel Reflex into the film Brothers. Among more than a hundred screen credits, he played the biker Hooks in Stone, a policeman in The Man from Hong Kong (1975), the hall captain Fifi in Mad Max (1979) and Ritter in Turkey Shoot (1982), and he appeared in Quigley Down Under (1990). His part in Bad Behaviour earned him a Best Supporting Actor award from the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, and he later appeared in Long Weekend (2008), Boar (2017) and The Faceless Man (2019).
