Plot summary
Stephen Fitzgerald works as a reporter for a newspaper in New York. He meets a leprechaun and a young woman named Nora while he is traveling in Ireland. He goes home to his fiancée, Frances, whose father, the wealthy David C. Augur, is in the middle of a political campaign. Both the leprechaun and Nora appear in the city as well. Stephen is pulled between the wealth that a life with Frances would bring him and the Ireland he comes from. The leprechaun, grateful to him, takes on the part of the reporter's servant and his conscience as Stephen faces that choice.
