Plot summary
At a lake quarry outside a small town, campers Roy Seeley and Mandy Pullman are attacked in the night; Roy is killed and Mandy is raped and left badly injured. Dr. Sam Cordell treats her at the hospital, where Sheriff Hank Walden questions him about her wounds. Across town, teenager Tim Galen wakes from a recurring nightmare about a woman tortured by a monstrous figure. Tim dates Sam's daughter Jenny, a relationship Sam disapproves of, and Tim's grandmother Agatha insists his dreams have nothing to do with the crimes. Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Sandor Stern, who had previously written The Amityville Horror, wrote the original screenplay for Incubus, but star John Cassavetes reworked it so heavily during filming that director John Hough estimated around eighty percent of Stern's work was rewritten. Stern was not credited, and the official screenwriter credit went to a pseudonymous "George Franklin".
