Plot summary
An avalanche of their own making destroys the herd's summer habitat, and Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie are angry at the possum brothers Crash and Eddie, doubting the two could survive on their own. Crash and Eddie slip out of camp while the others sleep, and Ellie insists on a search the next morning. They reach the Lost World, a land of dinosaurs, where Buck, a one-eyed weasel, saves them from raptors and tells them that a Protoceratops named Orson has escaped exile and wants to conquer the Lost World.

- Blue Sky Studios, the animation house behind the earlier Ice Age films, shut down on April 10, 2021 and saw many of its projects canceled, but work on The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild continued anyway.
- About 80 people made the film, nearly all of them working from home, and the remote set-up was so dispersed that director John C. Donkin never had a meeting with the entire team.
- The film started out as a Blue Sky Studios television series about Buck, announced by 20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Snider in August 2018, and was redeveloped into a feature announced at Disney's Investor Day in December 2020.
