Plot summary
Beneath a New Jersey beach boardwalk, land hermit crabs often host sea hermit crabs on vacation, though the two species cannot stand each other. Armen is a timid land crab whose parents died in a storm, and he is afraid of the water. His friends take him to his uncle Bruno's club, where a clumsy bump into Ramona, a tourist sea crab he likes, sparks a fight with Mako. The land crabs are evicted. At the shore, Mako and his goons take Armen's shell, and a high tide sweeps Armen and Ramona away. They must find their way home.
