Plot summary
The crayons in Ben's box come to life once the boy is asleep and travel through the box into Color City, the land where they keep their color. Yellow, a timid crayon who likes to sing, is left behind and slips in late, and the two unfinished drawings Ben left on the page, King Scrawl and Gnat, follow her through. Yellow rejoins her friends Red, Green, Blue, Black and White. The sheriff, Brown, and a crayon scientist call a city meeting about the threat the scribbles pose to the Rainbow Colorfall, the source of crayon color: if it is blocked, the crayons turn gray and transparent and then cease to exist. Yellow's friends volunteer to make the voyage to the Colorfall.
