Plot summary

A high school project gives Ethan and his friend Sean their plan: convince a neighbor that his house is haunted and record how he reacts. The neighbor is Harold Grainey, a recluse across the road who is rude to everyone. Harold makes regular shopping trips and leaves his doors unlocked, so the two buy hidden cameras and electronic gear with Sean's father's credit card and install everything inside his house while he is out. From a computer in Ethan's bedroom they watch Harold and set his lights flickering, his screen door banging and his music player switching on and off. Harold does not react the way they expect, and each time the strange events happen he disappears into a padlocked cellar they could not enter.
