Laura Innes
Biography
Laura Innes is an American actress and television director who trained in theater at Northwestern University and began her career on Chicago stages, playing Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in nearby Birmingham, she went on to appear in New York and regional productions such as Two Shakespearean Actors, Our Town, and Three Sisters. On television, she had roles in The Stiller and Meara Show, Hey Dude, and Wings from 1991 to 1993 before joining ER in 1995 as Dr. Kerry Weaver, a part that brought her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. She directed episodes of ER and other series, and her work on The West Wing earned a directing Emmy nomination in 2001. Her films include Deep Impact (1998) and Can't Stop Dancing (1999). She later appeared in The Event and How to Get Away with Murder.
